When Maggie McGaugh booked a massage after a long week, there were a few red flags — but she overlooked them.
In a now-viral TikTok, McGaugh revealed the moment she realized she had booked an appointment at a spa that offered “happy-ending” massages.
“First off, I booked it at 9 p.m.,” she said as she listed the reasons she should have figured out something was off. An employee “answering the phone at 9 p.m.” was another.
McGaugh, whose video has been viewed more than 10.6 million times, admitted it “didn’t look great” when she walked in. Yet she continued on.
“I walk in. There are no doors, only curtains, which I’m a little nervous about,” she recalled. “I definitely got hidden video camera vibes, so I even looked around for cameras and proceeded with the massage which, again, come on!”
McGaugh said she stripped down to her underwear — which she typically does for a massage — before laying on the table. But when the masseuse came in, she “really quickly” ripped her underwear down to her knees, McGaugh said.
“Then, to make matters worse, she folds down the sheet — which is already very small — so I’m completely exposed,” she continued.
McGaugh realized she hadn’t booked a regular massage when the masseuse sat on her thighs.
“I reach down and pull my underwear back up and was like, ‘No, thank you,'” she recalled, saying she then asked for just her shoulders to be massaged.
“The poor woman was very confused as to why I was not into this,” she added.
After the appointment, she discovered there is a website that lists salons specializing in “happy-ending” massages. She said the salon she visited was mentioned.
“The happy ending for me was leaving,” she joked. “The massage was great once we established our boundaries.”
Users couldn’t believe McGaugh’s experience, with thousands commenting on the clip.
“Oh my gosh. I’d feel so violated,” one user wrote, which McGaugh agreed with.
“Not gonna lie, as a previous SA victim it was TRIGGERING!” she wrote. “It infuriates me that they don’t make it more obvious or ask first.”
