A morbidly obese woman risks missing a critical weight loss appointment after her car engine sets alight and she’s left stranded by the side of a motorway on the new season of My 600LB Life.

In a preview clip shared exclusively with DailyMail.com, Krystal is forced to clamber out through the vehicle’s trunk and into her wheelchair, before desperately ringing her family for help.

The shock incident happened four hours into her uncomfortably long journey to bariatric surgeon Dr. Nowzaradan in Houston, Texas.

‘I am desperate,’ she says about her desire to seek Dr Nozaraden’s help. ‘If I don’t get this weight off, then death is around the corner.’

Due to her size, Krystal had no other option but to travel to the Texas-based facility in the trunk of the car.

‘It’s the longest trip I’ve ever been on,’ she says.

‘I’m really worried about the body pain. The strategy is [to] endure as much as possible [and] stop if we need to.’

She also explains that she’s unable to sit for long periods in a normal car seat because ‘it puts a lot of pressure on my hip and my knees.’

‘I can’t sit that long driving or riding passenger,’ she adds.

Four hours into the journey, disaster strikes, with the driver revealing he is unable to accelerate and that the vehicle is coming to a halt.

‘Guys we’re slowing down,’ he announces. ‘We can’t speed up.’

After pulling over and popping the hood of the vehicle, it’s immediately clear that the engine is on fire and liquid is rapidly leaking onto the pavement.

After clambering out of the car and into her wheelchair, Krystal calls her family to update them.

‘So I’m pulled over on the side of the frickin’ highway because fluid is everywhere, steaming and sh*t,’ she says.

Addressing the nightmare situation in the narration, she admits: ‘This is bad, this is really bad.’

Whether Krystal manages to make it to Texas in time for her appointment remains to be seen.

My 600LB Life follows morbidly obese patients who strive to lose weight through diet and gastric bypass surgery with the help of Dr. Younan Nowzaradan.

Episodes focus on each patient as they discuss their daily food intake, how their diets impact their lives, as well as documenting their desperate search for change.

According to a logline from TLC, this season explores the emotional and physical battles of all-new patients, including a paralyzed man desperate to find a way to stand, a bride-to-be fighting to finally walk down the aisle and a recovering drug addict whose life is now dominated by a new addiction: compulsive eating.

The second chapter of the new season will also follow William, who was mobile and athletic until a knee injury derailed his sports career.

In the aftermath, his weight ballooned to over 600lbs and he is now desperate to change his life.

Last year, the TLC show was rocked with tragedy when former patient Larry Myers Jr, affectionately known as ‘Mr. Buttermilk Biscuits,’ died from a heart attack, aged 49.

Viewers had followed Larry’s struggles with his weight and how he shed 100lbs on a January 2022 episode of My 600-Lb Life, Larry’s Journey.

His cousin Todd Darell announced the news on Facebook, along with a link to a GoFundMe for his funeral.

At the time of filming, Larry was bedridden and weighed 940lbs after putting on 400lbs.

My 600LB Life premieres March 6 at 8pm ET/PT on TLC
